(1) A grouping of messages that share certain characteristics. A message domain has an associated parser that interprets messages that are received and generated by a broker. WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker supports messages in the BLOB domain, JMS domain, MRM domain, and XML domain. User-defined parsers can be used to support messages that do not conform to the supported domains.
(2) Major component of CICS. It is a repository for CICS messages and it handles the sending of messages to transient data destinations or to the console. It also provides an interface for returning the text of a message to the caller.

(1) A situation in which a transaction attempts to lock a row or table that is already locked.
(2) A condition on a session when two programs try to start a conversation at the same time.
Industry:Software
(1) A hardware interface to which an I/O device is attached for the purpose of sending and receiving data.
(2) An end point for communication between applications, generally referring to a logical connection. A port provides queues for sending and receiving data. Each port has a port number for identification. See also node.
(3) In time-slot management, one end of a 64 kbps unidirectional stream which can be attached to the SCBus.
(4) As defined in a Web Services Description Language (WSDL) document, a single endpoint that is defined as a combination of a binding and a network address.
(5) The interface between a collaboration and other objects in the WebSphere business integration system. It is through a port that a collaboration object binds with a connector or with another collaboration object. See also binding.
(6) The physical entity within a host, SAN Volume Controller, or disk controller system that performs the data communication (transmitting and receiving) over the fibre channel.
(7) To modify a computer program that runs on a given platform, to enable it to run on a different system.
Industry:Software
(1) A size limitation, such as the limit on the amount of disk space or size of a file set
(2) The amount of disk space and number of inodes assigned as upper limits for a specified user, group of users, or fileset.
Industry:Software
(1) A hex value representing one of the 127 possible arbitrated loop physical address (AL_PA) values in an arbitrated loop.
(2) A unique code that identifies an EDI loop.
Industry:Software
(1) A small piece of plastic-covered metal that is used to connect two contacts and complete a circuit.
(2) A connector between two pins on a network adapter that enables or disables an adapter option, feature, or parameter value.

Industry:Software
(1) A software development model that provides for consistent packaging of software components; the ability to upgrade part of a system as it is executing; the ability to control, monitor, and deploy software across global networks; and the ability to locate and implement services on a global scale. When developed according to the component model, components have interfaces that are rigorously implemented, are packaged into JAR files, and have dynamic execution environments.
(2) An architecture and an API that allows developers to define reusable segments of code that can be combined to create a program.
Industry:Software
(1) A hierarchical collection of nodes that can have an arbitrary number of references to other nodes. A unique path connects every two nodes.
(2) A data structure whose elements are linked in a hierarchical fashion.
Industry:Software
(1) A software mechanism that the ESS uses to request that an operating system of a zSeries or S/390 host verify that one or more subsystem resources can be taken offline for service. The ESS can use this process to automatically vary channel paths offline and online to facilitate bay service or concurrent code installation. Depending on the operating system, support for this process might be model-dependent, might depend on the IBM TotalStorage Enterprise Storage Server Subsystem Device Driver, or might not exist.
(2) An automation of the process used by service representatives to vary off and vary on subsystem resources for maintenance.
