Chili con carne is Spanish for "chili with meat". It is commonly known in American English as simply "chili", is a spicy stew containing chili peppers, meat (usually beef), and often tomatoes and beans. In Hot Doug's costumers can add chili as topping (thus a chili dog, without beans) by paying extra 50 cents.
