Berber, also known as Tamazight, is a language spoken by indigenous populations of Morocco. This Afro-Asiatic language has roots across North Africa. Political pressure has forced much of the Berber people in Morocco to learn and use Arabic instead. However recently efforts have been made to keep the Berber language alive, resulting in the teaching of Berber in some Moroccan schools.
