The growth of affordable digital imaging technologies has created a huge demand for digital color reproduction and hence for color management. There is now widespread use of digital cameras, liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), inkjet printers, and photo editing and page layout software. Color imaging devices from different manufacturers use different device components, so the same image may look different on different devices. To achieve accurate and predictable color, it is necessary to have a framework that compensates for device differences.
