Most people agree that wood should be recycled into new products. This can be done several times over and, if subsequent recycling is not economically viable, the wood can be burned to recover the energy that it contains. However, few people are aware of the technical difficulties associated with the simple idea of recycling old wood products into new ones. One aspect of this is minimization of the contamination levels in products made from recovered wood.
