Stratospheric ozone depletion was arguably the most important global-scale environmental problem of the twentieth century, and global warming may be the greatest for the twenty-first century. Since these two phenomena are largely caused by emissions of different gases, they have usually been thought of as independent. Recently, scientists have realized that these two may be more connected than was believed.
