Nondestructive testing (or nondestructive evaluation) is often used to determine whether a newly manufactured product meets acceptable quality standards established by the producer. In the past, success in identifying defects by such testing has caused conflict between inspectors and management because of lower overall production yield. In recent years, management has found that using nondestructive testing during manufacturing can improve quality during the fabrication process and enhance yield by providing process feedback and control.
