Assemblages of silicate minerals. Studies of the nature of these minerals provide information on their origin and their role in rock formation. This article discusses kinetic processes in silicate systems, oxidation-reduction equilibria in high-temperature systems, and volatile equilibria in systems at high temperatures and pressures.
