superplastic steels

Superplasticity refers to the ability of a material to develop unusually high tensile elongations at temperatures between 0.4 and 0.6 of its melting point in kelvins. Strains in excess of 1000% are frequently obtainable. By contrast, elongations often considerably less than 100% strain are typical for materials in a nonsuperplastic state when deformed at the same strain rates and temperatures where superplasticity is obtained in these materials.
