A poisonous, corrosive compound consisting of two atoms of hydrogen and one of sulfur, gaseous in its natural state. It is found in manufactured gas made from coals or oils containing sulphur and must be removed. It is also found to some extent in some natural gas. It is characterised by the odour of rotten eggs.
