A designation for a range of metre capacity. The class for a given type of metre is determined by its minimum capacity based on 0.6 specific gravity gas at 0.5 inches of water column differential pressure, under specified test conditions. The capacity so determined must equal or exceed the class designation, but be less than the next higher class.
