McGraw Hill Financial, Inc. is an American publicly traded corporation headquartered in Rockefeller Center in New York City. Its primary areas of business are financial, publishing, and business services.
One of the four primary tissues of the body. It differs from the other three tissues in that the extracellular components (fibers and intercellular substances) are abundant. It cannot be sharply delimited from the blood, whose cells may give rise to connective tissue cells, and whose plasma components continually interchange with and augment the ground substance of connective tissue. Bone and cartilage are special kinds of connective tissue.

In the mining industry, geographic information systems (GIS) have become practical tools in recent years as desktop computing has become both more powerful and affordable. The advanced spatial capabilities of GIS make them particularly well suited for use in mine development, where spatial information is fundamental to the processes of mineral exploration, open-pit mine and underground mine planning and production, and environmental reclamation.

Mercury(I) chloride, Hg2Cl2, a covalent compound which is insoluble in water. The substance sublimes when heated. The formula weight is 472.086 and the specific gravity is 7.16 at 20°C (68°F). The material is a white, impalpable powder consisting of fine tetragonal crystals. Calomel is manufactured by precipitation when sodium chloride is added to a solution of mercury(I) nitrate or by direct combination of the elements.

Modern computer design is a recursive procedure in which teams of specialists employ a myriad of computer-aided design (CAD) tools in the conception, layout, and fabrication of a new machine. The top-level architecture or logical design is still based on the stored-program concept proposed by John von Neumann in 1945, but the physical implementation has evolved rapidly to produce faster and smaller computers with greater capacity and reliability.

Particles or objects that exert a gravitational force but do not emit any detectable light. Dark matter is the dominant form of matter in our Galaxy. Astronomers have detected the presence of dark matter through its gravitational effects and have shown that dark matter is not composed of ordinary atoms. Particle physicists have suggested several plausible candidates for dark matter; planned experiments are capable of detecting these new particles.

Musical instruments can be simulated in real time by a computer program. For example, the acoustic response of a plucked guitar string can be calculated directly from its physical properties (mass, tension, length, and so forth) and the conditions of its excitation (pick position, pick hardness, and so forth). Such computational models provide extremely high quality virtual musical instruments, which are all-electronic while sounding entirely natural.

Satellite climatology, or more accurately satellite based remote sensing of climate, is a subfield of applied climatology. It occupies the overlap between the technical discipline concerned with acquiring information about Earth's environment from a distance (remote sensing), and the study of climate and its variations (climate dynamics). This combination is logical physically because radiative transfer is the basis of both climate and remote sensing.

Manually propelled (handtrucks) or powered carriers for transporting materials over level, slightly inclined, or slightly declined running surfaces. Some industrial trucks can lift and lower their loads, and others can also tier them. In any event, all such trucks maintain contact with the running surface over which they operate and, except when towed by a chain conveyor, follow variable paths of travel as distinct from conveying machines or monorails.

One of the allowed values of the internal energy of an isolated physical system. This energy is not free to vary continuously above its minimum value, as predicted by classical mechanics, but is constrained to lie among a set or spectrum of particular values. This spectrum may consist of both an isolated discrete portion and a continuous component of restricted range. The term energy level usually refers to one of the allowed values in the discrete set.

Primitive fossil members of the phylum Chordata with a calcite skeleton of echinoderm type. They occur in marine rocks of Cambrian to Pennsylvanian age (530–300 million years old) and, because of their skeletons, have traditionally been placed in the phylum Echinodermata. They are shown to be chordates, however, by many chordate anatomical features. Their calcite skeletons merely confirm an old view—that echinoderms and chordates are closely related.
